Asbestos... a killer product The feeling I had after completing an asbestos inspection course was similar to the feeling I had during the movie Empire Strikes Back when Darth Vader tells Luke Skywalker he was his father. The enlightening course left me feeiling both educated and cheated that this information was passed up by news reporters and educators for so many years. The fact that asbestos has tragically killed many people who worked in factories and mines has been stamped in our brains by the internet and news reports of suffering families and the tort lawyer suing the evil corporations for knowingly poisoning their workers for the allmighty dollar. Although this is true, the other side of the coin is hardly revealed; how asbestos, if used correctly and manufactured safely is a wonderous and inexpensive natural product with many uses including fire safety.
